Join us for a fun twist to ‘happy hour’, as you explore the art of food styling photography using artistic and delicious appetizers and cocktails as your subject matter. In addition to having a good time, there is a great deal to learn about photography through the practice of lighting, styling, composing, and shooting food, as well as the bonus of getting to eat and drink the props at the end of class!
BYO wine and camera – even cell phone cameras can create quality images today. Experiment with shooting several different types of set-ups with food plates and glassware using the proper lighting techniques that we will be demonstrating. Then take the skills you learned at this workshop to capture images of your own culinary creations, perfect for sharing on social media!
This lecture, demo and hands-on workshop will help you gain confidence as you learn the secrets of lighting and shooting that can be applied to any type of photography. There will be an opportunity to hear about and then try out the equipment necessary along with great tips on the creative use of aperture and shutter speeds and how they affect the final image. How to set up a successful composition, different types of lighting techniques, and white balance. Most importantly, a demonstration on how lighting affects the mood and communication of your photographs will be provided. Lecture and demo will take place in a controlled studio environment with an opportunity for students to try out instructor-supplied lighting equipment, props and techniques so you can put your new skills into practice. Our Chef and bartender will be preparing items specifically for us to play with and then enjoy!
This workshop is for any level photographer who already knows how to operate their camera and is willing to explore new avenues of expression and approaches to their photography.
