Photography is all about light and where there is light, there is shadow. Where there is shadow there is form. This workshop is designed for the beginning photographer or other artists using photography in their work who already has a basic understanding of how their camera operates and is now looking for something more. We will learn to see and compose your favorite subjects better by understanding how light and shadow creates the structure of your image and clarifies your subject for the viewer. The slide lecture will be followed by a lighting demonstration and fun hands-on opportunity to try some of the techniques and tips with equipment supplied by the instructor. The lecture is filled with information and illustrations to define our topics along with tips on how to integrate them into your photographs for more impact. Learning to see the quality, quantity and direction of light and how that relates to shadow and great composition will be at the core of this workshop. Students should bring cameras, instruction manual and notebook. We will have time to photograph within the museum.
